The Department of Natural Resources currently maintains a leased work center near Mineral that does not meet current or projected requirements, lacks adequate internet and cell phone connectivity, and is not proximate to fuel vendors. DNR's lease will expire in 2019 and the current owner intends to sell the property and not renew the lease. Funding is provided to construct a new, 5,500 square foot, multi-purpose building on agency-owned land in the vicinity of Eatonville in order to consolidate activities from multiple locations, and expand fire suppression activities in support of the Elbe Hills, Tahoma State Forests and surrounding private timber holdings.
