Definition
Supervise insulation workers and related trades workers performing mechanical insulation work.
Distinguishing Characteristics
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.
Typical Work
Read plans and blueprints to determine scope of work, materials needed and their cost and availability;
Prepare estimates of project costs, including staff needed to complete project;
Inspect insulation projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations;
Order materials and maintain adequate inventory of supplies;
Participate in the development of and conduct preventive maintenance programs;
Enforce safety rules and regulations;
Assist in the development of the department budget;
Maintain work records and prepare reports;
Perform related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications
Two years of full-time experience as a journey-level insulation worker including one year of full-time experience as an insulation worker lead or equivalent
