SEX OFFENDER TREATMENT SUPV - TEAMSTERS
Definition
Within the Department of Correction’s Sex Offender Treatment Program, evaluates the crimeogenic needs of a caseload of sex offenders and provides specialized sexual deviancy treatment using cognitive behavioral and relapse prevention models as provided in the Association or Treatment of Sexual Abuser (ATSA) guidelines. Supervises one or more Sex Offender Treatment Specialists and other staff. May serve as an expert witness in court hearings specific to offender’s participation in treatment and potential for re-offending.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This class can be distinguished from the Sex Offender Treatment Specialist by the additional supervisory responsibilities.

Desirable Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree with major study in a social or behavioral science.
Two years of experience providing individual or group therapy to adult offenders, the mentally ill, or sex offender; or four years of mental health, criminal justice or social service experience which includes six months of experience providing mental health therapy to groups and/or individuals.
Two years experience as a Sex Offender Treatment Specialist 1, Forensic Therapist 2 or Corrections Mental Health Counselor 2.
A Master’s degree in related field may be substituted for two year of experience; a Ph.D. degree in a related field may be substituted for three years of experience. Neither degree can remove the requirement for the six months of experience providing group or individual mental health therapy.
Note: Experience in mental health treatment may be defined as: any experience where responsibilities have included mental health treatment planning, mental health program implementation and/or direct delivery of client mental health services.
AND
