Long-term economic forecast

This file contains long-term population, employment and personal income projections for Washington state. In contrast to the short-term economic forecasts that focus on assessing business cycle conditions, long-term projections examine demographic trends, structural changes in industries, changes in production factors such as labor supply and capital investment, and technology/productivity advances. Data are now forecast to 2040.

Previous forecasts also included detailed labor force projections. However, OFM is presently developing a new methodology for projections of the state population by age, sex, race and Hispanic origin. As a result, the long-term labor force projections will be postponed until these new data are available. Earlier labor force projections are still available for those who are interested.
