Washington Workforce Empowerment Collaborative

The Washington Workforce Empowerment Collaborative (the Collaborative) is a cross-agency/institution advisory body established as a result of Executive Order 12-02.

The Collaborative is a community of our state’s internal government workforce and serves to provide counsel with diverse perspectives to state agencies and institutions to help create a Washington where all Washingtonian’s belong.

Our primary focus is to provide recommendations for equitable HR systems.

The Collaborative meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month from 9am – 11am. Send an e-mail to TheCollaborative@ofm.wa.gov to request a meeting invitation.

What The Collaborative does

  • Create a space for state-employed Washingtonians of varying experience, backgrounds and perspectives to come together to discuss, co-create, and guide state level leaders in state workforce HR practice.
  • Collaborate to promote shared power principles, including change in the traditional decision-making frames of power and leadership.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend policy and practice changes to remove systemic barriers to state employee benefits, opportunities, and support services, or to Washington state government services, information, and resources.
  • Promote access, accessibility, and inclusion practices in the recruitment, hiring, and retention processes to create equal opportunities for all candidates.
  • Provide consultation and counsel on statewide and agency executive orders and policy, as appropriate.
  • Sponsor educational events and conferences designed to provide exposure to diverse lived experiences and different pro-equity, anti-racist theories and practices.
