Request data from TRIP
If this is your first time requesting data from TRIP, we encourage you to review the documentation listed below before submitting a request:
These guidelines explain how TRIP protects sensitive information and what steps are needed to access de-identified data. Understanding this process will help ensure that your request is complete, accurate, and moves smoothly through the approval workflow.
How do I complete a data request?
First time requesting data from TRIP? Review our privacy considerations and data approval process.
1. Plan your data request
Be prepared to tell us about your research questions, the purpose of the project, funding, study population, variables requested, and your research methodology.
2. Determine your data type
Knowing what data you need is the first step. For individual-level data, we’ll help get contributor approval and set up a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA), which explains your purpose and requires review of any products you create. To see if a DSA is appropriate for your project, please review the TRIP Data Governance Manual and its DSA template.
For more information about the data, please review the TRIP Data Handbook and the data dictionary (forthcoming).
3. Complete a data request form
Once you have determined you can move forward, please complete the individual-level data form. The more details you can provide, the smoother and quicker the process will likely be.
4. Submit your request to the TRIP
Email data request to TRIP@ofm.wa.gov.
Please allow up to a week for an initial response. The time it takes to review and fulfill a request depends on the complexity of the data.
In the meantime, if you want to review how your TRIP request is processed, please review the TRIP data approval process for next steps.
