Local and Community Projects

Depending on funding availability in the state's capital construction budget, the Governor may propose funding for individual projects outside of the state's competitive capital budget grant programs.

Successful past projects are generally ones which:

  • Have a scope focused on acquisition, design, construction or remodel of a site that will be in service for a long duration (generally 25 years, although there are some exceptions).
  • Are not eligible for an existing competitive state grant program.
  • Have not received other state funds in the past.
  • Address an emergent issue or an underserved community.
  • Are for a project that is shovel-ready and will be completed within the biennium (no later than June 30, 2027).

To be considered, requests should be submitted through the Local and Community Project Funding Request Form by October 31, 2025. The Governor's proposed budget will be released by December 23, 2025.

This funding is highly competitive. No grant awards are guaranteed, either in the Governor's proposed budget or in the final legislative budget.
