ELECTRON MICROSCOPE TECHNICIAN 1
Class Series Concept
Prepare specimens for electron microscope examination.
Definition
Under general supervision, perform all routine laboratory and photographic procedures in electron microscopy.
Typical Work
Performs photographic and darkroom procedures;
Assists, guides, and instructs technicians and/or student helpers in procedures;
Organizes and maintains files of blocks, slides, sections, and research data;
Assists in the operation and maintenance of the electron microscope;
Inventories and orders supplies; maintains equipment;
Examines sample of stained slides with microscope to ascertain that results are satisfactory;
performs photographic and darkroom procedures;
Records patient or research information manually or by computer.

Desirable Qualifications
An Associate's degree in a science related field
AND
Six months of technical experience in an electron microscopy laboratory using standard techniques
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
