Class Series Concept

Fabricate customized treatment devices for patients receiving photon and electron radiation therapy.

Definition

Under general supervision, fabricate beam limiting devices following physician orders for patients receiving radiation therapy.

Typical Work

Reviews simulation radiographs to determine shape of block to cut; 

Cuts styrofoam utilizing block cutting machine; verifies correctness of cut shapes; 

Pours molten alloy into block forms; 

Mounts blocks to trays; modifies block shapes per physician order; 

Orders supplies and equipment necessary for block cutting operation; 

Performs cleaning and minor repair of shop equipment; 

Performs related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent 

OR 

one year of experience performing styrofoam block cutting
