ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH TECHNICIAN LEAD
Definition
Lead Electrocardiograph Technicians and other assigned staff in the clinical operation of an ECG laboratory.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others. Coordinate the clinical work performed by Electrocardiograph Technicians and others.
Typical Work
Plan laboratory schedules and assign priorities according to work load and clinical urgency, initiate corrective action or suggest technical innovations in work methods of staff;
Assist in interviewing and recommending selection of applicants; assign and schedule work; provide input for staff performance evaluations and corrective action when necessary;
Train Electrocardiograph Technicians and others; serve as a resource to other clinical staff;
Assist in preparing annual laboratory budget in collaboration with laboratory manager; assist in monitoring budget;
Maintain laboratory inventory and initiate purchasing of supplies; arrange for the maintenance and repair of equipment;
Participate in clinical conferences and meetings;
Perform the work of Electrocardiograph Technician II;
Perform related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent
AND
One year of experience as an ECG Technician 2
AND
Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
AND
Certified by the National Alliance of Cardiovascular Technologists
Equivalent education/experience.
