Under close supervision, learns and performs field and office engineering tasks.
Typical Work
Under close supervision receives training in beginning level engineering tasks, such as chaining, locating established points on the ground, using a hand level, taking field notes, tracing from hard copy to cloth or paper in ink or pencil, lettering and computing from field notes;
Sets chaining points and gives backsights; Cuts brush with a machete, axe or other tools; Loads and unloads survey party trucks and helps transport equipment; Performs other work as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications
18 years of age.

Equivalent education/experience.
Note: Employees who have completed one year of satisfactory State service in this class will be automatically advanced to the class of Engineering Aide I.
