Population forecasts and projections
OFM produces a variety of annual and occasional forecasts and projections. Some, like the Growth Management Act projections, are required by law. Other projections are produced to support other state and local planning functions.
State population forecast
Annual population forecasts for the state of Washington available for each year from 2020 to 2050 by age and sex.
Growth Management Act county projections
GMA population change and forecasts by county, age, and sex pursuant to RCW 43.62.035 and are updated every 5 years in years ending in ‘2’ or ‘7’ of each decade.
Age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin projections
Historical projections by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin are available for Washington state from 2010 to 2040. Last updated in 2018.
