West Sound Technical Skills Center Modernization

Funds the design and first construction phase to add new learning space to the West Sound Technical Skills Center in Bremerton. The existing building is a 45-year-old, low-quality, warehouse-style building that is not up to current educational standards. It has several deficient building systems and does not meet seismic codes. The expansion of the Skills Center will create a new, safe and modern learning environment for students to develop training and skills in high-demand fields.

2019-21 School Seismic Safety Retrofit Program

Additional funding is provided for unanticipated and increased costs to perform seismic safety retrofits to K-12 school buildings designated as very high risk by OSPI. With their and OSPI's School Seismic Safety committee approval, the North Beach School District may use approved seismic retrofit funding, along with local resources, to replace school facilities at a new site outside of a tsunami inundation zone.
