Interior Lighting and Control Upgrade

30000036

The existing lighting system at the Department of Labor & Industries Tumwater headquarters building is inefficient and costly to operate. Staff are using shades inside the building to minimize glare and light levels which causes wasted electricity. This project will redesign and upgrade the interior lighting to provide an efficient ambient light level of approximately 20 foot-candles that can be supplemented with individualized task lighting as needed. The lighting levels and associated controls will provide a flexible operating system to allow for implementation of ongoing zone light level modifications as needs arise. This project will result in energy and operational cost savings.

Air Handler Retrofit and Cooling Tower Replacement

30000059

The air handler units and the exhaust fans at the L&I headquarters building are well past their useful life expectancy and some have failed recently. In addition, the rooftop building exhaust fans are not operating reliably which impacts building pressurization, ventilation and critical systems. This project will replace the air handling units, exhaust fans, cooling tower and associated components. The results of this project will be a modernized system, designed specifically to meet current loads, with much greater reliability and improved energy efficiency in alignment with the Governor’s Executive Order 18-01.
