The purpose of the federal Boating Infrastructure Grants program is to provide grants to local governments, state agencies, tribal governments, private marinas with facilities open to the general public, and nonprofit organizations for projects that support recreational boating facilities for boats 26 feet and longer. Projects include renovating guest docks, adding utilities to moorage docks, and building moorage docks and floats. Federal funds are provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

All phases of project development from feasibility through implementation monitoring are eligible for funding. These projects support the goals set forth in the Puget Sound Action Agenda.
