IT COMPUTER OPERATOR SUPERVISOR
Definition
Supervise computer operations personnel.
Distinguishing Characteristics
First-line supervisor of computer operations personnel. In installation without Data Control Supervisors, may also supervise data control personnel.
Typical Work
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requires, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;
Develop, implement and maintain operations and/or production standards, procedures and policies to optimize computer resource usage;
Maintain records on machine availability and problem status reports;
Schedule maintenance with service personnel;
May perform the duties of assigned personnel;
Perform related duties as required.
Legal Requirement(s)
There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.
Desirable Qualifications
Three years of full-time experience as a computer operator including one year as a lead or two years as a senior operator. Applicable higher education/training may substitute for required experience, except for lead or senior experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
