Definition
Under general direction receives, evaluates and sorts State and/or Federal surplus property scheduled for redistribution or disposal action. Oversees preview of assets and performs loadout of purchased property.
Typical Work
Receives, unloads, sorts, and documents receipt of incoming surplus property;
Evaluates condition of assets for resale or recycle;
Works with higher level staff to identify surplus property for priority, internet sales, or recycle;
Meets with customers to preview assets made available for sale;
Facilitates daily customer pickups for priority and public internet sales;
Loads various types of surplus assets into personal vehicles, vans, trucks, trailers, Uhauls etc. to include heavy equipment, vessels, vehicles, ATVs, office furniture and pallets of merchandise;
Operates various forklifts;
Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: warehousing, disposal, recycling, and tracking of assets, operation of heavy equipment not limited to industrial forklifts, farm equipment, construction vehicles, etc.
Ability to: verify, document materials received; evaluate and determine high value assets that need to be tracked, recognize and properly handle materials of a hazardous, toxic or combustible nature.

Desirable Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience receiving and evaluating property with a large-scale government or commercial warehouse.
Equivalent education/experience.
