RADIATION THERAPY TECHNOLOGIST SUPERVISOR
Definition
Supervise radiation therapy technologists and other assigned staff.
Distinguishing Characteristics
With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.
Under general direction, supervise radiation therapy technologists and other assigned staff; direct the training and coordination of staff; perform assigned administrative duties; perform specialized radiation therapy procedures and/or dosimetry procedures.

Typical Work
Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures for radiation treatment area; maintain quality standards of treatment area including proper administration of physician's prescriptions and appropriate chart documentation of treatment to meet billing and medical standards;
Direct and perform specialized radiation therapy procedures, such as cyclotron-based neutron radiotherapy, fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery, intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy, dose-intensive conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy; assist physicians and technologists with procedures, such as tumor localization and construction of treatment aids;
Perform radiation therapy planning procedures and provide technical review of simulation and dose calculation; Oversee and review radiation therapy treatment;
Assist with the development and testing of new radiation therapy techniques;
Recommend modifications of prescribed techniques and apparatus;
Assist with in-service training of technologists; assist with coordinating the service and research functions;
Perform the duties of a Radiation Therapy Technologist;
Perform related duties as required.

Desirable Qualifications
Registered in Radiation Therapy technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization;
AND
Two (2) years of experience as a Radiation Therapy Technologist including one (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory position.
