Definition

Works under direct supervision in a long-term care setting and serves as a hospitality aide to healthcare paraprofessionals and professionals, such as certified nurse's aides and licensed nursing staff. Positions complete numerous non-medical tasks indirectly or directly for residents.

Typical Work

Check in and direct staff and visitors;

Answer resident call lights;

Pass meal trays, snacks, and fluids to residents;

Serve and collect food trays, performs tray monitoring;

Restock resident supply closets;

Answer phones and ensuring clear communication with staff;

Provide one-on-one care to assigned residents;

Engage residents in conversations or activities of interest;

Change bed linens;

Run errands;

Transport residents, using wheelchair or wheeled cart;

Other duties as assigned, appropriate to the position.

Desirable Qualifications

High school diploma or GED certificate, or equivalent education/experience.
Experience working with vulnerable adults, and proven interpersonal skills.
