UTILITY WORKER 3 - WPEA

Definition

Leads workers performing various unskilled and semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, facilities, utility and sewer systems, equipment, and grounds.

Typical Work

Plans and prepares work assignments for crew; assigns, instructs, and checks the work of others;

Reads and interprets plans, blueprints, and sketches required for building sidewalks, streets, parking lots, installation of signs, posts, and catch basins;

Operates power tools and equipment, such as electric and gas engine driven compressors, large mowers, snow removal machines, pneumatic tamper, jackhammer and portable pumps;

Operates motorized equipment, such as automobiles, trucks, including dump trucks, forklifts, small tractors and front-end loaders, street cleaning equipments, trailers and trenchers;

Inspects completed projects to ensure satisfactory compliance with design and instruction;

Orders supplies, equipment, and tools required for projects;

Maintains personnel records and maintenance project records;

May direct set up for athletic and other events and assure site is returned to original condition;

Performs duties of Utility Worker 2;

Performs other duties as required.

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Desirable Qualifications

One year experience as a Utility Worker 2 

OR 

Equivalent education/experience.
