Class Series Concept

Direct the operation and supervise staff of a central stores or organization stockroom using a manual or automated inventory system.

Definition

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action.

Typical Work

Perform or oversee the preparation of stock requisitions, material receipt and handling, and stocking and storage of all inventory charged to assigned unit;

Confer with users and with vendor representatives on new products and quality control of goods handled;

Assist in filling orders; provide for prompt handling of requests;

Maintain assigned sections of inventory documents; assign stock numbers consistent with institution numbering system; post inventory on stock records;

Maintain product knowledge and direct maintenance and minor repairs of stock; advise clients of proper handling and maintenance techniques;

Account for daily sales; compute extensions on each line item; establish reorder points on each stock item; purge unused stock from inventory; enter department charges for stores accounts receivable;

Perform the work of Stockroom Attendant Leads;

Perform related duties as required.

Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

Desirable Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent

AND

two years of full-time experience in shipping and receiving, warehousing, inventory control, or related work experience, including one year's experience as a warehouse or stockroom lead

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
