Definition

This is the leadworker level of the series.  Leads and works with masons and plasterers to perform journey-level work in plastering, cement finishing, brick and block laying, and related work.

Typical Work

Performs all duties of a Mason/Plasterer; leads assigned personnel in the performance of work;

Assures adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel;

Develops preliminary cost estimates for installation and repair;

Develops methods and procedures to be followed by assigned personnel;

May perform work in other trades;

Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of masonry and plastering trades; safety precautions.

Ability to: work from blueprints, plans, and sketches; apply plaster and stucco; estimate time and materials needed to complete jobs; work on scaffolds.

Legal Requirement(s)

There may be instances where individual positions must have additional licenses or certification.  It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate licenses/certifications are obtained for each position.

Desirable Qualifications

Positions typically require one year, full-time experience as a journey mason and plasterer or equivalent trade skill.  Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
