Definition
Serves as baker and second cook on an ocean research vessel with a capacity for up to 60 crew and research personnel. Leads mess attendants or other assigned personnel.
Typical Work
Inventory food and galley linen;
Receive food stores and assist in proper storage;
Assist other cooks in preparing and serving meals for ship's crew and scientific personnel;
Bake bread, cakes, pies, rolls, etc.;
Assist in maintaining a clean and sanitary galley;
Perform related duties as required.
Legal Requirement(s)
U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's document endorsed "Steward Department (FH)".
Desirable Qualifications
One year of experience in food handling, baking and general food preparation
