Statewide Accounting glossary

View (business process) | Cross Application |
Viewing a business process means seeing its status and reporting on it. This is a securable item in a business process security policy. |
View (permission) | Cross Application |
View is the ability to see objects or data through the Workday user interface, when permitted in a domain security policy. |
Warrant Numbers |
The unique identification number that distinguishes warrants from other warrants. In the state of WA, a warrant is a legal, negotiable instrument drawn against the state treasury in place of a commercial bank. A warrant acts like a check and can be cashed or deposited like any other check you receive. |

Washington Workforce Analytics (WWA) |
A component of OFM's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) used for supporting HR & Payroll business intelligence & data analytics. The current user interface (web front-end) for WWA is the SAP Business Objects WEBI tool. |

Workbook |
A resource requested by OneWA for agencies to provide information and data used in testing. |

Workday Payroll Interface | Integration |
A suite of tools, or connector, that provides a framework for building an integration to a third-party payroll provider. |
Workday Reference Database (WRD) |
A server hosting data tables containing foundation data model and supplier information. Very similar to the current Outbound Interface Server with AFRS vendor and chart of account information. |

An Eclipse-based development environment that allows you to build more complex integrations with Workday. |
Workday Web Services | Integration |
Workday's public API. Based on open standards, Workday Web Services (WWS) provide the core method for integration with Workday. |
Workfeed | Cross Application |
Workday provides a special Workfeed worklet modeled on the idea of an activity stream (like activity streams in Facebook and Twitter and many other modern applications). The Workfeed presents an actionable view of content items of interest to you, arranged chronologically. This enables you to see and act on pertinent tasks and content items, from a combination of sources, all presented in a simple time-line view. The Workfeed should be configured as a required worklet on the My Workday 2.0 landing page. |
Workflow |
A workflow is approval routing for a process. When there is an approval needed, the system will send it to the appropriate assigned person to approve before moving onto the next step. |

Used to define a line of business, operating unit, or other organizational structure that requires ledger balances to carry forward each fiscal year. (Format: BU12345) |

A Company is a permanent organization responsible for oversight and administration of specific programs and services. Each state agency is represented as a unique Company. (Format: ABCD_1234) |

Defines the organizational level of financial accountability for performing the company’s primary functions. (Format: CC123456) |

Worktag: Fiscal Period of Service |
Used on transactions to track when the service was provided. (Format: PSFYFM) |

In accordance with GAAP, a Fund is a fiscal and accounting entity with a self-balancing set of accounts designed to demonstrate legal compliance and fiscal accountability by segregating transactions related to certain government functions or activities. (Format: FD1234) |

Defines funding sources for specific purposes from governmental or other entities known as sponsors, federal grantors, or state grantors. (Format: GR123456789) |

Worktag: Information Technology (IT) Cost Category |
Used to record the type of information technology spend to inform detail level reports. (Format: IT123) |

Worktag: Ledger Account |
Used to classify, in summary, all transactions of the state into the following categories: assets, liabilities, fund balance, deferred outflows of resources, deferred inflows of resources, revenue, expenditure, and statistical accounts. (Format: 12345) |

Identifies the physical location of business assets for tracking and conducting physical inventory. (Format: LC123456789) |

Worktag: Program |
Identifies the major activities of an agency as expressed as a primary function or organizational unit. (Format: PG12345) |

Worktag: Project |
Accumulates costs for work with a planned outcome over a time period with a defined start and end date that may be capitalized or expensed. Used for operating, capital, and special projects to support management reporting. (Format: PJ123456789) |

Used to track financial activity to a county, city or town within the state or, at a high level only, out-of-state. (Format: RG123) |
