Funding will expand the fleet, providing more in-air training time and increasing enrollment. Currently, applicants are turned away due to space constraints. This funding will add 10 additional undergraduate students to their wait-listed program. CWU offers the only Bachelor of Science (BS) Aviation degree in the Northwest and is the only place on the West Coast to offer training on the Advanced Frasca RTD Simulators. The majority of campus buildings are heated by steam generated from four natural gas fired boilers, the largest contributors to campus greenhouse gas emissions. Design for the second geothermal plant and underground infrastructure, and local building modifications and connectivity are funded. This follows investments made in the 2023-25 biennial and 2024 supplemental budgets for CWU geothermal infrastructure.

Wildcat Farm Composter

40000167

Funds infrastructure necessary to meet Wildcat Farms' program goals, including promoting and furthering sustainability initiatives on campus, furthering student education opportunities through high-impact practices, and providing the necessary farm equipment to expand its growing efforts, making access to organic, hyper-local produce more equitable within the community. Infrastructure additions include an industrial composting unit, a facility housing cold storage, an outdoor classroom, and an all-gender composting toilet. The installation of a 10’x30’ Earth Flow industrial composting unit will help meet the goal by 2030 of diverting 25% of all campus waste by processing up to 1,000 pounds of pre- and post-consumer food waste and converting it into compost to be used at the farm.
