Mission
Our mission is to empower American Indian and Alaska Native employees, partners, and allies within the Washington State government by providing resources, support, and advocacy. We are dedicated to fostering a culturally rich and inclusive environment that recognizes and values the diverse Indigenous peoples of the Americas, including Canadian First Nations and Indigenous communities from Mexico, Central America, and South America. We emphasize the distinct status and sovereignty of federally recognized tribes in the U.S., ensuring their rights and voices are respected and integrated into all aspects of our work. Through consultation, collaboration, education, and policy influence, we aim to advance professional development, celebrate cultural heritage, and ensure equitable opportunities for all members of our community.
Vision
Our vision is to foster an inclusive and supportive environment within the Washington State government that empowers American Indian and Alaska Native employees, partners, and allies to achieve their full potential. We aim to create a thriving community that values and integrates the rich cultural heritage, tribal sovereignty, worldview, and contributions of Native peoples. Through our efforts, we envision a workplace that embraces tribal sovereignty and equity, while also championing innovation, collaboration, respect, responsibility, and reciprocity. Ultimately, we strive to contribute to the empowerment and advancement of Tribal Nations and Indigenous peoples within the state.
