WAAM Chapter 80 – Foundation Data Model is now available

May 16, 2025

We are excited to announce that a draft version of Chapter 80 - Foundation Data Model (FDM) is available for review in WAAM (Washington Administrative and Accounting Manual, which will replace SAAM when the state moves to Workday).

The Foundation Data Model (FDM) is the data framework that serves as the backbone for transaction processing, reporting, and security in Workday. WAAM Chapter 80 outlines the key FDM elements such as worktags, hierarchies, and attributes that will be crucial in understanding Workday and how it will function for the state. The FDM is the replacement for SAAM Chapter 75 – Uniform Chart of Accounts, which is implemented via AFRS tables.

We have also included links to several training courses and resources that One Washington has developed to help users understand the FDM.

We encourage all agency finance staff to review WAAM Chapter 80 and the FDM training and resources to better understand the FDM and prepare for the transition to Workday.

To view all of the draft WAAM chapters and related resources currently available, visit our Draft WAAM webpage. We will continue to share chapters as they are available using this new GovDelivery format.

Agencies are encouraged to review these chapters and submit questions or comments here so recommendations can be considered prior to finalizing WAAM and before Workday go-live.
